DR. GARLAND DULAN, HOMECOMING COORDINATOR

WELCOME HOME!! ALUMNI & FRIENDS!!

"HOMECOMING" — What an exhilarating time! The
feeling is indescribable! We are mixed with feelings of pride
in our school, nostalgic when reminiscing over years gone by,
saddened by the absence of those who have gone to rest, and
thankful for the marvelous blessings God has bestowed upon
us.

"HOMECOMING" brings classes together. Class re-
unions and other weekend activities aid in our effort to
strengthen the bonding relationships between the school and
alumni.

"HOMECOMING" says 'Thank-you' for participating in our alumni development pro-
grams. Our primary aim is to improve alumni management and central responsibility for the
college's alumni support. We thank you for climbing from 6*Vo alumni participation in
unrestricted gifts in 1979 to a remarkable increase of 34% in 1986.

"HOMECOMING" is looking to the future. Alumni are called upon to safeguard the future
of our college: networking to reduce the trend of enrollment decline and to increase the amount
of financial aid to the institution and to students.

"HOMECOMING"! — A time for serious, great fun and serious business. WELCOME!!

MRS. MINNEOLA WILLIAMS-DIXON '51

MRS. MARGARET CALDWELL EARLE
1987 President's Award Honoree

Mrs. Margaret Caldwell Earle,
daughter of the late John Wilbur and
Nancy Williams Caldwell born in
Newberry, South Carolina celebrates
the 60th Anniversary of her graduation
from Oakwood College this year. After
completing her church school and col-
lege education, Margaret spent a
lifetime in denominational service as a
teacher and Bible instructor. She served
as teacher or principal in Wilson, North
Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, Jackson-
ville and St. Petersburg, Florida, and
later Rochester, New York. ^ - ^

She met and later married John
Robert Earle on June 14, 1942, just ' —

prior to his induction into the United States Army. From 1948 to 1957, the
young Earles shared their faith in Palmetts, Florida. Then John and Margaret
followed "Mother and Father Earle" to Rochester, New York, where Margaret
again took up her active church work, as Sabbath School teacher and church
treasurer. It was here after an absence of 21 years from the teaching profession,
Margaret answered the call "to service" and taught 12 more years (9 years at
Jefferson Avenue and 3 years with the Culver School). Margaret's desire to
hasten the Lord's coming was expressed in her faithful labor during the sum-
mers as Bible Instructor. She labored with Elders N. B. Smith, F. H. Stevens,
E. Wilkins, W. G. Mills, and H. D. Singleton.

Despite her busy schedule, she attended summer school at Atlantic Union
College and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She
also added to her cultural knowledge by participating in two international
educational tours.

Although retired since June 1975, Margaret busies herself serving in Vaca-
tion Bible School, the Kindergarten Department, and distributing the booklet,
National Sunday Law, to friends, neighbors. Message Magazine subscribers.

Margaret experiences personal joy as she observes the successes o\' her many
"children" of the past. She says jubilantly that her ultimate joy will be realized
when she will meet "the saints" around the "great white throne".

Elder Lee A. Paschal is delighted to present the 1987 President's Award to
our "78 years young" honoree, Mrs. Margaret Caldwell Earle.

TO THEE OUR DEAR OAKWOOD

CHORUS

To thee our dear Oakwood
To thee we shall ever sing
For decades thou has stood
Thy name shall ever ring.
Here we spend our happy days.
And we love to sing thy praise.
And where-ever we may be,
We will always be true to thee,
Our worthy old, old O.C.

1.

Our dear Oakwood within whose vale

Thy standards will not fail,

Our hearts are filled with wondrous cheer

When thoughts of thee draw near,

We love thy pines, thy elms, thy oaks

And campus always green,

Thy many flowers and distant mounts.

Form one impressive scene.

2.

From states afar and isles of sea

Thy students come to thee,

And fain do linger in thy halls

Enlightened truthfully

From nature's scenes they ever learn.

And study from thy soil.

Till many more thy works discern.

We'll pray for thee and toil.

3.

As happy birds come in the spring
And sing not for their pay,
Rich, natural melodies they bring
Cheering throughout the day.
We too will serve thee faithfully
In all we do and say.
We hope in God, we trust in ihee
True and loyal we'll be.
